What a great holiday !!!
It’s the best dive base that I have been to ...so far ...after almost 500 dives!
Extra Divers at Makadi Bay are a very professional, helpful and friendly team. If you have any problems, they are happy to sort them out.
The house reef is perfect for all levels of diving skills. UW photographers should put this on their bucket list. They have seahorses, ghostpipe fish, double ended pipefish, pegasus, many types of different nudibranch (often tiny, so you will need a super macro lens), a school of juvenile barracudas (normally being hunted by jackfish), batfish, octopus, turtles and lots of other fish and crustacean species. I even found an arrowhead crab (huenia heraldica) which you are more likely to find in places like Lembeh.
They have great local reefs that can be reached with a "Short Trip" with their smaller diving boats, which is much better than using Zodiacs. For one you are protected from the sun to and from the dive site and they have a ladder for easy entry back on to the boat.
There are also “Daily Boat” trips. The boats are all situated at the end of the jetty …so no bus trips to the harbor! These trips are usually with 2-3 dives. But when I was there, I was lucky enough to join a trip they organized for a loyal customer. They organized 2 great dive sites, a night dive, and after that we had a BBQ on the boat as well. It was a perfect day.
