Blue Explorers, Abades, Teneriffa

We (a father/teenage son team) spent a wonderful diving vacation this February in Abades, Tenerife. The choice wasn’t hard as we were looking for a small town or village with a beach, not far from the airport but away from the big holiday hubs. Kornel, one of the team members, picked us up from the airport with a minivan. We stayed at a spacious bungalow a short 10 min walk from the diving center, which they had arranged for us in advance. Cindy and Arjan who run the center proved to be incredibly attentive and friendly right from he start. Since we were already certified OWD divers, we could start diving immediately. We were assigned to Kornel, with whom we went on our first dive. This was a simple dive along the reef of the beach of Abades. After a second dive on the next day, we spontaneously decided to upgrade our certification to Advanced Open Water Diver, and the center accommodated us perfectly. It was a great mix of learning and fun at the same time. Kornel, our dive instructor, did a fantastic job to teaching us very professionally all we had to learn for the AOWD certification while he took us to some great diving spots, involving ship wrecks, reefs and habitats of barracudas, octopuses and flying gurnards. Many thanks again also to Cindy, Leif, Arjan and Ronald (Ed) for making our vacation special. You are not only accomplished diving instructors, but a lot of fun too. We will definitely come back!

Ich war im Sommerurlaub im Juli auf Teneriffa und wollte eigentlich nur mal einen Tag tauchen gehen... Dass daraus etwas mehr wurde (insgesamt 6 TG) hat vor allem mit dieser Basis zu tun. Ich bin morgens an meinem Hotel abgeholt worden, und meine Freundin konnte auch immer mitfahren und so mal einen anderen Strand sehen... Weil sie damit auch zufrieden war, stand meinem Tauchen nichts mehr im Weg...
Die Basis hat ein nettes Hausriff, leider ein bisschen flach, deshalb fahren sie auch alle anderen Spots auf der Insel an. Besonders gefallen hat mir das Wrack in Tabaiba, und der Tauchplatz Las Eras, bei dem wir wirklich viel, viel Fisch sehen konnten (Gruss an den Adlerrochen!!!)
Auch wenn auf der Basis recht viel los sein kann, nehmen sich die Guides immer Zeit fuer jeden.
