House reef and more than 60 dive sites: Euro-Divers is back right on the island

The Vilamendhoo Maldives Resort Island in the South Ari Atoll of the Maldives will reopen on November 15, 2026, following a renovation. Several facilities have been modernized, including the buffet restaurant, which has been redesigned. The island’s familiar charm is set to be preserved.

For divers, the Euro-Divers dive center on the island is particularly appealing: it offers a house reef with ten entry points and access to more than 60 dive sites in the surrounding area.

A house reef, ten entry points

The house reef is just a few steps from the beach and has ten entry and exit points. Certified divers can dive there flexibly on their own with their dive buddy. Dive tanks are picked up at designated locations, which is intended to make planning between dives easier. According to Euro-Divers, the house reef is also suitable for beginners, who can gradually gain confidence underwater under the guidance of the base team.

Dive Sites in South Ari Atoll

Beyond the house reef, there is a wide selection of dive sites featuring channels, coral reefs, and thilas—underwater reef peaks. Among the better-known sites are the Dhigurah Channel, Kuda Rah Thila, Huddu Thila, and 7th Heaven. In South Ari Atoll, there are opportunities to see whale sharks and manta rays year-round. However, the locations where the manta rays are found can vary depending on the season.

The diving program includes two-tank dives in the early morning and mid-morning, single dives in the afternoon, full-day excursions, and night dives. Euro-Divers’ multilingual team guides both experienced divers and beginners. According to the dive center, the location is suitable for divers who are just learning to dive, as well as for families with varying levels of experience.

Snorkeling, Spa, and Water Sports

Snorkelers will also find plenty to enjoy: They can explore the house reef on their own or join guided excursions to see manta rays and whale sharks. Night snorkeling reveals yet another side of the reef.

For breaks from the ocean, the resort features adults-only areas and a spa. The water sports offerings include glass-bottom kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, catamaran sailing, and windsurfing, as well as jet skiing and various towed activities.
