The Mama Earth Foundation was initiated and established by Ulrich Kronberg. Uli is a publisher from Hamburg who founded Palstek Verlag in 1985 with his colleague Imke Feddersen and publishes the technical sailing magazine Palstek. Uli has started a small but impressive environmental project, which he is expanding step by step with steadily increasing success. He organizes large-scale mangrove planting projects. Over 2.5 million mangrove seedlings have already been planted and several coastal areas in Mindanao in the Philippines have been reforested.
That is one part of the project... Part 2 is the now well-known “sitting on trash”:
The mangroves are grown as seedlings and, when they are large enough, are “planted” in shallow water by the commissioned planters. In the process, the planters are often confronted with plastic waste. This waste has been dumped on land for years, where the next storm has swept it back into the water. This gave Uli the idea of recycling the waste and giving it a “second life.” In Davao, he finally found a company that makes furniture out of plastic. The collected plastic waste is delivered there and processed into school chairs along with other recycled plastic.

Unknown Italy

With a lecture on the topic of “Unknown Italy” – diving in the fresh waters of Abruzzo, Gerald takes us to a rather unknown area. Freshwater lakes in the heart of Italy with sunken buildings in crystal-clear water. All this paired with a culinary journey. Let yourself be surprised:
