Dive, test and enjoy yourself
The Demo-Days 2022 will start on Pentecost weekend in Stromberg near Bingen. A weekend all about diving, trying out new equipment and having fun together. The diving water, the Hunsfels, is a quarry lake about 10 kilometers west of Bingen on the Rhine.
The lake of the Hunsfels quarry, a former limestone works, is a great diving area in the municipality of Stromberg with a good depth of 54m. In 2010 the limestone plant was shut down and in the following years the entire area was deconstructed and the slopes in the basin were secured. The lake in the quarry on the outskirts of the municipality of Stromberg was formed after the blasting of a groundwater vein in 2015.
The basin, which is full of groundwater, is now an attractive diving lake that offers places for beginners as well as places for very experienced (and tech divers): the terraced steep walls with up to 54m depth. Over the last few years, nature has reclaimed some of the quarry, creating a variety of different fish and, in the shallow areas, a natural underwater flora.
