A fascinating collection of shipwrecks
Cyprus is an absolute dream destination for wreck divers! The island not only has crystal-clear water, but also a fascinating collection of shipwrecks that make every diver's heart beat faster. From the most famous wreck, the Zenobia, to hidden gems along the coast, the south coast and the area around Cape Greco are true hotspots for wreck diving.
On the official Cyprus website, www.visitcyprus.com, you can even find 3D models of the wrecks to help you prepare for your dives.
A highlight for wreck lovers is, of course, the Zenobia, by far the most famous wreck off Cyprus. But the island has much more to offer in terms of wreck diving. In the region around Ayia Napa, not only the impressive underwater sculpture park MUSAN attracts divers, but also the Greek navy boat Kyrenia, which was sunk in 2015. At a depth of 23 metres, you can not only explore the ship itself, but also discover a variety of sea creatures such as moray eels and groupers.
Cyprus offers everything your heart desires
Another exciting wreck awaits you off Larnaca: the LEF1. The ship was sunk as an artificial reef in 2019 together with the MV Elpida. At just 13 metres deep, it is the perfect spot for open water divers and offers great photo opportunities with its vibrant underwater world. And of course, the Zenobia is not to be missed – the wreck is a real must-see!
Diving off Limassol is another highlight: the passenger ship Lady Thetis, built in Germany in 1953, lies at a depth of just 13 metres and invites you to swim through it. The wreck of the Constandis is nearby, which makes this spot particularly exciting.
Not to be forgotten is the region around Pafos in the southwest of the island. Here you can discover the Vera K, a former cargo ship that ran aground in 1972 and was used as a military training target. The wreck lies only 11 metres deep and is suitable for divers of all experience levels.
Whether you are an experienced diver or a beginner, Cyprus offers everything your heart desires. With high visibility, warm water and an abundance of marine life, the island is a true divers' paradise!
