We are a family of 3 visiting Lembongan and World Diving for the 3 rd time since May 2006. We were there from October 15 th till October 21 st.
World Diving is run by an english couple, Sue and John with their local staff of divemasters and boat captains. It is a very friendly place where safety has the highest priority. They will try to full fill guest wishes of diving spots, but weather conditions can have an influence.
They use a traditionel outrigger boat, which is slower than a speed boat, but a very cosy way of reaching the divesites.
World Diving is on the premisses of the Pondok Baruna guest house. We have stayed there 3 times and we are very pleased to recommend this hotel for the traveller who is satisfied with simple (clean) rooms. The price is very reasonable. We paid IDR 3,1 millions for seven nights. 3 people and two rooms and all of our meals and drinks.
That ads up to less than EUR 300.
The diving is very good. Healthy coral, sometimes fast driftdives (don´t be scared, they know what they are doing and even newly educated divers will have a good time) and a lot of diversity of marine life.
We were there in the end of the Mola Mola season and on my first 4 diving days we encountered Mola Mola´s to a total of 8. Other encounters included a Wobbegong Shark, Nurse Shark, Whitetip Shark, Frog Fish, Eagle Rays, Banded Seasnakes, Scorpion Leaffish, Octopus, Cuttlefish, many types of nudibranch, Blue ribbon eel,Mantis Shrimps, 15 big Marble rays and a lot of other fish species.
Oh, I almost forgot the manta rays at manta point. Only 2 this time, but in May 2006 I had the pleasure of 20 manta rays cleaning and eating for the whole dive .
The water can get rather cold at some of the sites. Down to 18 degrees in Crystal Bay, so at this time of year a 5 mm is essential and would recommend a hood or a vest on top of that. On the northern sites we had a confortable 27 degrees.
On a scale from 1 - 10 we will rate World Diving a big 10 (borderline 11).
It is a place with a very special feeling. My recommentation is to have at least 6 diving days and stay at Pondok Baruna to get into that special feeling.
