Hi there,

Just a few lines to tell you a bit about Paradise Diving in Makadi... (Ralf und Suzanna)

I`ve been working there, so I`ll try to stay objective.

As PADI Instructor we see things differently, then just as a non professional diver.

What I can say is following:

- It is a excellent dive base for begginers, but not for experienced divers

- They often go to the same shallow dive sites, which is not fun for the experienced divers

- Quality of teaching is good, no standard breach. However watch out for the followings:

e.g.: On the same dive with one instructor, you could find an Open water student doing is OW dive 1, a Intro diver, an other open water student doing is OW dive 4, a check dive and a fun diver. According to PADI standrds they are no standard breach as long the Instructor can remain in control. For the most experienced divers you know that these kind of situation are not ideal for top quality teaching, however that`s what we call "Bending the standards..."

- Quality of the gears aren`t that good, you better of taking your own dive gears

- Ambiant is quite good, however they change often instructors, most of the times when you have a high instructor turnover in a Dive center, it means that things are not that good as it seems... Unfortunately, some of the local staff are on their way out, so the ambiance might have changed by the time you get there.

- Price are OK, however although a bit expensive, but you get your monney worth

- Organisational side is good, but a bit unflexible (courses schedules)

- Just watch out for Suzanna bad moods ! if something`s wrong don`t deal with her, but with Ralf !

We could finish by saying this:

If you`re not diving often or haven`t been diving for quite a while, or if you`re planning to do your Scuba Diver course, or OWD course, that the right place to go, they are Safe and don`t do big classes, +/- 4 to 5 students per courses.

If your are an experienced diver and want to do special type of diving, then choose another dive center.

For me it was the first Dive Base I`ve been working with in the Red Sea, I enjoyed it very much, Paradise Diving team is fun (but, unfortunately not all of Paradise Diving management is nice and kind). However in general it`s good Dive Base, especially thanks to Ralf...

My advice to you all divers, is to have a look what level are the dive centers you`re looking at, the bests are:
- PADI ICD Centre
- PADI 5 stars IDC Centre
- PADI 5 stars centre
- PADI 5 stars Gold Palm Resorts
At least there, they have fixed standards to respect, without bending the rules. The best way to find out is to check out the rating of the dive centres in the PADI wesite

Keep on diving...

Max
