Aufgrund der hier immer wieder auftauchenden Beschwerden, die Basis wuerde nicht auf eMail-Anfragen reagieren, habe ich mit dem Betreiber Kontakt aufgenommen. Seine Antwort war binnen 6 Stunden da! Hier der Inhalt der Mail.
Zwei wichtige Punkte vorweg, fuer die, die des englischen nicht so maechtig sind:
- keine deutschen eMails, nur englischsprachige werden gelesen und beantwortet!
Die Leitung hat im November 2004 gewechselt, so dass die neue Leitung nur ueber aeltere Mails spekulieren kann. Dazu beachte man den ersten Absatz.
- aus Sicherheitsgruenden wird die Basis nur noch englisch sprechende Taucher akzeptieren. Es sei wichtig, so der Leiter der Flotte, dass Taucher die Sicherheitsrelevanten Dinge, wie auch das Briefing, verstuenden!
Noch ein Hinweis in eigener Sache: Wer ueber Taucher.net Kontakt aufgenommen hat (obiges Kontaktformular), muesste seine Mail zurueckerhalten haben, weil die Mailadresse nicht mehr gueltig war. Sie wurde nun aber auf den aktuellen Stand gebracht.

The dive vessel Dual Porpoise, along with the website, was purchased in November 2004 by Partial Pressure Diving Company, Inc. The boat was overhauled and repaired and operations got underway in Jan. 2005. Any emails prior to that period would have been the responsibility of Steve Schalk (and Gab).
One of the first things I did was remove any advertising (both in electronic and print formats) that advertised a German speaking crew. At the time, I had no idea that a German dive message board even existed.
Yes, I have received several emails in German. In the beginning, I forwarded most of them to Gabriele hoping for a translation but received nothing in return. I´m sure she has been busy with her new life. As my knowledge of the German language is limited to ´hello´ and the number ´nine,´ I simply stopped even opening emails not written in English.
I have replied to every email sent to me in English, however. I would be glad to supply you with copies of both the original email and my responses.
I have had quite a few German divers on board who have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Our standard of service is even higher than before and all remarked that they would return. Most have mentioned your concern that German emails were not being answered. After explaining the situation, they all agreed to post on the board about their wonderful experience and that email inquiries must be in English. Apparently that has not taken place.
We welcome German divers, as well as all nationalities equally. However, due to safety reasons, non-English speaking divers will not be allowed on board. A responsible diver must understand both the safety and dive site briefings. I´m sure your divers will understand how important effective communication must be on a dive trip.
