Unfortunately, I personally cannot share the report (only one so far) for the Bali Dive Academy.
They have friendly staff and they are good in their marketing strategy and they profit from having the dive base within Taman Sari, but they are certainly below regular safety standards. I did three dives with them (towards my ´Advanced Diving Certificate´, two of which were okay, but not really a plus in learning advanced techniques). I studied the material in the books intensively - and that was it. I had somebody correcting my answers who had to read the correct answers from a book (not extremely proficient in my opinion). I stopped the course with them and decided to finish this part of my training with a dive base with more experienced and proficient people at a later stage.
My night dive suffered from a a lack of good, professional briefing (1 minute is simply too short and a lack of English proficiency does not help either), lack of absolutely necessary safety measures (only1 torch was provided) and an instructor (Kadek) who was 20m away most of the time not doing the necessary and more regular check-ups which are required during night-dives, especially if you have people around with little experience and a first night-dive. I myself got very disoriented and I guess I was lucky not to panic.
I would hope they learn from my feed-back, but I am very uncertain about this.
