Manufacturing defect in the spindle assembly
HEAD Watersports S.p.A. is recalling the second stages of the Apeks XL4, XL4+ and Ocea regulators, as defined below, which were manufactured between April 2025 and April 2026.
A manufacturing defect in the second-stage spindle assembly may restrict the flow of breathing gas at depths of more than 45 metres. The regulator may not supply sufficient breathing gas when required, posing a risk of insufficient air supply to the diver at depth.
What to do
Stop using the regulator immediately if it falls within the affected serial number range.
• Either to the authorised Apeks dealer from whom it was purchased; or
• To an authorised Apeks service centre (see https://uk.apeksdiving.com/pages/store-locator for details)
If you are unsure whether your regulator is affected, please contact your local Apeks dealer or customer service. Do not use the regulator again until it has been inspected.
Affected regulators will be inspected and, if necessary, repaired free of charge by qualified technicians using approved Apeks replacement components. There will be no charge for the inspection, repair or postage.

The illustration shows the serial number, which has been laser-marked directly onto the housing of the regulator’s second stage.
