New Extra Divers Resort in Indonesia
All Extra Divers fans can now discover a dreamlike new gem in Indonesia. The new family run dive resort "Spice Island" under Swiss management is located in the North Moluccas on the island of Kusu, far away from tourist trails.
The Moluccas or "Spice Islands" are located between Sulawesi and New Guinea. The area has been dormant for many years and even today there are very few tourists here. The resort, beautifully nestled in nature, borders a small jungle and is located directly on a gorgeous, light sandy beach. The 16 spacious bungalows are all only a few steps away from the beach and captivate with a wonderful sea view.
The North Moluccas guarantee unique dives, because the area has a sensational variety of species. On almost every dive you will meet several blacktip sharks, on current-rich steep walls sometimes also gray and whitetip sharks. Also turtles, mackerels and bumphead parrotfish are sighted at the dive spots.
An absolute speciality is the endemic and rare Halmahara Walking Shark (Hemiscyllium Halmahera), which walks over the reef especially during night dives. Also macro lovers will be thrilled, because the reefs offer tons of macro highlights. With the help of the experienced dive guides you will discover pygmy seahorses, frogfish, ghost pipefish, rare nudibranchs, leaf fish, various octopuses as well as harlequin and boxer shrimps.
