Discover the Euro-Divers Amari House Reef...

On the wish list of divers traveling to the Maldives, seeing sharks, rays and lots of fish is almost always at the top. Guests of the well-known Euro-Divers base on Amari Havodda have reason to be happy, because at Amari's wonderful house reef sharks, rays and countless fish feel very comfortable here - so a long boat trip is not necessary!

The dive starts in the shallow water of the protected lagoon, where blacktip reef sharks and jack fish are swimming around. After a short swim you reach the reef wall, which slowly drops down to 35 meters. The dive site is thus suitable for divers of all experience levels, from the first dive during an Open Water Diver course to more experienced Advanced Open Water divers.

The east side of the island is home to a wide variety of healthy corals that provide a home for countless colorful reef fish. Stingrays, barracudas and sharks can also be seen on the reef. Hawksbill turtles and spotted eagle rays are a common sight, seemingly showing little shyness towards divers; wonderful motifs delight photographers at this dive site. Between the corals, divers with particularly good eyes will also discover small hidden treasures such as leaf fish, moray eels, tiny shrimps, tiger cowries or lobsters.

On the north side of the island there is a beautiful wall, which is a bit steeper and deeper than the reef wall on the east side. This dive site is easily accessible by steps that lead you down into the lagoon from the jetty of the water villas. Currents are more frequent on this side of the island, which increases the chances of seeing gray reef sharks or even large spiny dogfish hunting. Turtles, stingrays and white tip reef sharks can also be seen on this side.

Experienced divers should not miss the chance to dive into the blue water after a short dingy ride to reach the corner where the north and east sides of the island meet after a short drift dive. This dive is especially popular when the current is a bit stronger - because then sharks and tunas gather to hunt and offer divers an unforgettable spectacle. Then, the closer you get to the jetty, the weaker the current becomes, which then carries divers gently over the colorful, somewhat shallow reef at the end of your dive.
