Raja Ampat. At around 8 a.m. local time, a blaze broke out on the Indo Siren, which belongs to the Master Liveboards fleet, near the Piaynemo Islands.
On arrival of a naval vessel at around 11 a.m., the hull of the ship was already largely burnt.
Surrounding reefs and the risk of explosion prevented the military vessel from approaching safely, which hindered further extinguishing work. The 15 guests and 16 crew members on board were safely evacuated to the nearby mainland and accommodated at Glorias Homestay. The ship burned out completely and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the local police. The wooden Phinisi class motor sailer had been in service with the fleet since 2011.
