Last Breath: The film

Set in one of the most inhospitable regions on earth, this film tells the exciting and true story of an extraordinary rescue mission. In fascinating, immersive underwater images and virtually in real time, this gripping action drama unfolds an intoxicating pull.

Chris Lemons (Finn Cole) is a professional diver at the beginning of his career. While his fiancée Morag is well aware of the dangers of the job, Chris is looking forward to the upcoming assignment far off the coast of Aberdeen in Scotland. At his side are the experienced Duncan (Woody Harrelson), a kind of mentor for Chris, and the professional but aloof Dave (Simu Liu). The escort ship Tharos has barely reached the dive site in the middle of the North Sea when a storm brews that threatens to jeopardise the mission. Nevertheless, the three divers venture to a depth of over 90 metres with the diving bell...

At first everything goes according to plan, but then sudden system failures force the team to abort the mission. While Dave manages to get to safety, Chris is left on the seabed by a faulty supply line - in icy darkness and with only ten minutes of emergency breathing gas. The uncertainty of whether Chris is still alive weighs heavily on the entire team, but they do everything they can to save him. With extraordinary team spirit and a breathtaking race against time...

Feature film adaptation of a real-life disaster

With LAST BREATH, director Alex Parkinson brings the feature film adaptation of an almost unbelievable incident to the big screen - even more intense, emotional and immersive than ever before. Parkinson already dedicated himself to the true events in his award-winning documentary ‘The Last Breath - Trapped at the Bottom of the Sea’.

‘I immediately felt a connection to what Chris Lemons went through - that speaks to the power of this story of hope and human cohesion. When people come together with a common goal, extraordinary things can happen,’ explains Parkinson.

With an impressive cast that includes Woody Harrelson, Simu Liu and Finn Cole, a stirring survival drama unfolds that touches the heart and really gets under your skin!
