New: Boats at the Expo, Too
On 13 and 14 February 2027, Dykmässan—the Scandinavian Dive Show—will take place at Åby Arena in Mölndal, near Gothenburg. According to the organisers, it is the Nordic region’s leading trade show for recreational diving, freediving, marine conservation and underwater photography.
It is organised in collaboration with the international diving magazine X-Ray Mag, with the Scandinavian diving community Dykarna.nu serving as a partner.
Programme and What’s New in 2027
Planned activities include main-stage presentations, workshops, a try-dive pool, and exhibition areas featuring manufacturers, dive centres, tour operators, and marine organisations. On Saturday evening, Dykpub will be open to everyone. The programme will be expanded further and is subject to change.
Two presentations have already been confirmed: Hans Örnhagen will ask, “Why do divers die, and what can we do about it?”, while Anders Wästfelt will speak about the East Indiaman Götheborg. The ship sank in 1745 near the entrance to the port of Gothenburg, and the wreck was rediscovered in 1984.
New for 2027 is a boating section. The organisers are inviting boat companies and suppliers of boating accessories and are billing it as the only indoor boat show on Sweden’s west coast.
Anyone with their own underwater photos can also enter the photo contest, which is open to everyone. Submissions should be emailed to fototavlingen2027@dykmassan.se.
Travelling from the North
Åby Arena is located about a 25-minute drive from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport and about seven minutes from central Gothenburg, close to the E6 motorway, with nearly 2,000 parking spaces.
The tram stops in Mölndal, about 800 metres away, where there is also a railway station with direct trains to and from Copenhagen. For readers travelling from northern Germany, the overnight ferry from Kiel to Gothenburg is another option. Stena Line operates a daily service, with the crossing taking about 15 hours.
The official trade show hotel, Best Western Plus Åby Hotel, is located right next to the arena. According to the organisers, guests who mention the keyword “DykMässan” when booking will receive a trade show discount.
