Dive centres in El Hierro and Port Ghalib to close at the end of November
The management of Extra Divers announces the closure of two dive centres - the bases in El Hierro and Port Ghalib. In El Hierro, the long-standing dive centre manager Dula is taking her well-deserved retirement; unfortunately, no successor has been found.
Regarding the closure of the dive centre in Port Ghalib, Extra Divers wrote: ‘We regret to inform you that we will be closing our dive centre in Port Ghalib at the end of November 2024.
The loss of the house reef has deprived many of our guests of their favourite diving opportunities. We have tried for a long time to find a solution together with the owning company and the hotels - unfortunately without success.’
The Extra Divers are all the more pleased to welcome you to the other diving centres: ‘We would particularly like to recommend our diving centre at Three Corners Equinox Beach Resort near Marsa Alam. It offers a fantastic house reef where dugongs are regularly spotted, speedboats and day boats right on the jetty and famous dive sites such as Abu Dabab and the legendary Elphinstone Reef are practically on the doorstep. There is also an extensive sandy beach in a sheltered bay.
By the way: Most of the dive centre team from Port Ghalib will continue to work in the other dive centres. So you will see many familiar faces again.
