From the Mediterranean to Palau: Where to Go in 2027
At boot Düsseldorf, from January 23 to 31, 2027, diving tour operators and diving schools from every continent will be showcasing their offerings in Hall 13. Anyone looking to plan their 2027 diving season will find an overview of potential destinations there. The selection ranges from a campervan trip to the Costa Brava to a diving cruise off Palau, and destinations in the northern seas are also represented.
Mediterranean: Great Diversity Right on Your Doorstep
The Mediterranean is home to more than 17,000 species and, according to a press release, is second only to the Coral Triangle in the western Pacific in terms of biodiversity. The trade show features destinations ranging from Spain’s Costa Brava and the Medes Islands to the Croatian Adriatic coast, Sardinia, and Sicily, all the way to Malta and Cyprus. There, in Larnaca Bay, lies the wreck of the Zenobia—172 meters long, sunk in 1980—at depths ranging from 18 to 42 meters. Also featured are the Canary Islands and Madeira, where divers can encounter angel sharks, manta rays, and, occasionally, monk seals.
Red Sea, Indian Ocean, and Pacific Ocean
The Red Sea has been an established diving destination for more than 50 years; notable sites include the Thistlegorm, the Brother Islands, and Daedalus Reef. Also featured are Mauritius, the Maldives with 26 atolls and nearly 200 dive centers, Thailand, Indonesia with Raja Ampat and Wakatobi National Park, and the Philippines with more than 7,000 islands. Indonesia will be represented by a shared pavilion, while the Philippines will have its own booth; both are located in Hall 13.
In Micronesia, the program features Palau with its current channels, the Blue Hole, and the Jellyfish Lake, as well as Yap with its manta rays visible year-round; dive cruises are also available in Palau. In the Caribbean, Curaçao, Bonaire—with its marine protected area established in 1979—and the Bahamas will be showcased.
More Than Just Travel Advice
According to the trade show organizers, in addition to destination advice, there will be diving courses, workshops, and a stage program featuring industry stars. With more than 200,000 visitors from over 100 countries and nearly 1,500 exhibitors in Halls 1 through 17, boot Düsseldorf is the world’s largest yacht and water sports trade show.
