EUF Eco Award – inspiring sustainable diving
The European Underwater Federation (EUF) Eco Award is designed to motivate recreational divers, diving schools, organisations and associations to promote projects that raise environmental awareness within the diving community. In 2024, the award was presented for the first time to aquatil for the Dive4Diadema project.
This year, the Dutch winning project OOSTERSCHELDE ABOVE WATER impressed the international jury. The project combines environmental education and diving by making the underwater world and biodiversity of the Oosterschelde estuary visible to people who cannot experience this fascinating world themselves by diving.
Congratulations to Carla van Westing, who accepted the award on behalf of all those involved in John Geurts' project at the boot Düsseldorf.
EUF Lavanchy Award
The EUF Lavanchy Award is presented by the European Underwater Federation (EUF) and honours the vision of diving pioneer Jack Lavanchy (PADI). Throughout his life, he tirelessly worked to encourage the diving community to work together for the benefit of the sport and divers worldwide.
The award is presented annually to an individual who has made significant and lasting contributions to the responsible development of diving. This year, the award was presented to the Egyptian hyperbaric chamber physician Dr Adel Taher at boot Düsseldorf.
As director of the Hyperbaric Medical Centre in Sharm El-Sheikh, director of DAN Egypt and CEO of Charm Medical Service Group, he has made a significant contribution to the safety and development of diving in the Red Sea over the decades. Congratulations, Adel!
