The German Freediving Association sent Jennifer Wendland, Anna-Karina Schmitt and Jens Stötzner. Jennifer Wendland was able to add three new German records in Kaş according to CMAS Regulations in her record list.

On four diving days in the disciplines Constant Weight (CWT), Free Immersion (FIM), Constant Weight NoFin and Constant Weight Bifin were dived down in the deep blue of the Turkish Riviera with only one breath.

In midsummer temperatures and a water temperature of 26°C, the athletes trained in hypoxy- and CO2-tolerance were pushed to their physical and mental limits.

On the third day of competition, 54-year-old Jens Stötzner won the Master's World Championship title in the Constant Weight No-Fins (CNF) discipline. In this discipline, the diver descends in breaststroke style without any aids to the previously defined target depth and then ascends again.

With a very strong -65m he also set a new Master's World Record. Already on the first day of competition he could win the bronze medal with the monofin (CWT) and on the last day with the bi-fin.

Due to a ruptured eardrum suffered in shallow water on the first day of training, all seemed lost. However, mental strength and perseverance and belief in oneself led to the world championship title and world record.  This extraordinary achievement in this extreme sport showed once again that the will to succeed makes the impossible possible.

Due to the Covid-19-related closure of the swimming pools, Stötzner looked around for alternative training methods and simply shifted his training program to open water. Thus, even training in ice-cold water at -8°C air temperature did not deter him from reaching his goal.

The exceptional athlete and former 2-time junior vice world champion in the Ironman Triathlon has thus crowned his success streak this year, after two German championship titles in deep diving and another 6 new German records, with the world championship title.

With passion programmed for success - everything succeeds! We congratulate Jennifer Wendland for her three new German records and Jens Stötzner for his truly exceptional top performance!
