I spent a wonderful week in March in Arrieta diving with Norhtdivers.
I can confirm that is quite relaxing to be on a small village without blocks of apartments and hotels. I did not missed the daily ´Völkerwanderung´ in front of chinese restaurants, english-pubs offering *live* soccer-matches, and the mandatory shops of plastic stuff and suncreams.
In the small village of Arrieta there is a cosy beach, a couple of places where to eat affordable and very good, a supermark and the familiar base of Northdiving´ which the nice guy Ulli operates.
I made 10 dives in the mild waters of the atlantic with intersesting fish encounters (Barracudas, Manta-Rays, Bonitos, Sepias..) and lots of colourful fishes that accompany us during the dives. The unterwater world in Lanzarote is something to consider. I muss admit that I was surprised by the diversity of fish and by the interesting unterwater lava-landscape.
The access to the diving sites was allways directly from the shore, which we reached in ca. 15 minutes drive from the base in Arrieta (well equiped and profesional operated).
As an add-on I had the chance to see Lanzarote covered with a green-prairie as the rain of winter made the desert to blossom.
