I made my first visit to The Froggies in 1998, and have been visiting there every yesr since, some years twice.
Why?
Of course because it is one of the best dive resorts in the world. The Guardian has rated it as the 3rd best worldwide.
And i cannot resist laughing when one of the commentators are coplaining about the accomodation and the food, missing aircondition and sausages.
Another commentator (not on this site) claimed that The Froggies probably has the best kitchen in North Sulawesi. And I always slept comfortably in my bungalow, a cool evening breeze on the island. The guy talking about sauna conditions must have had too much alcohol.
The standard is not luxurious, but more than adequate. And the service is impeccable and very attentative. In which luxury hotel do you get free laundry like you get at The Froggies. Which hotel picks you up at the airport and return you there after your stay?
Christiane herself is quite a personality, speaking 6 languages fluently, loving to talk with the guests, and having very firm opinions on a lot of matters. I do not always agree with her, but i respect her.
The staff do really look after you.
The diving is superb. You jump into some of the richest underwater biodiversity recorded anywhere, the visibility is very good. And the diveguides, you want find them better anywhere in the world. And of course it helps that you are only two divers per guide, maximum.
I usually do 3 dives a day, one at 7am one around 10am and one at 230pm. The early morning dive always is very good, and the brakfast afet the dive tastes excellent.
If you want a comfortable airconditioned room and sunbeds on the beach, go to Bali and join the drunk australians or sausage eating germans.
If you want some of the best diving in the world, guality local food and genuine personal service, The Froggies is the place.
Is my report biased. Of course it is. I always had a bias towards perfection
