I too can only say that the Basis itself is helpful, competent and got very good equipment.
The boat is as most boats in Egypt, not the newest, not the most competent crew, not the most practical boat but a standard, run-of-the-mill Red Sea safari-boat!
As for the debacle regarding this so-called very experienced person it sounds as if he has only himself to blame, I myself was rather surprised at the vehemence which Klaudia displayed when I half-jokingly mentioned that I could always do my night-dive on the house-reef alone, they are very safety-conscious and in my own opinion maybe a bit too careful but rather that than other way around.
Klaudia herself was very competent and an excellent instructor/diveguide for someone who is a beginner or have not dived for a long time.
Hendrik I cannot comment on since he had mainly shore-service during our stay but as a person he showed a very dry wit and quite some sarcasm so his statement ´Here I am God´ made me laugh since it would fit 100% with the personality I pegged him as having.
All in all a basis where you get a nice reception and service with a very good housereef as these go and more importantly a perfect housereef for nightdives since it is shallow(8-12m) and has a perfectly level sandbottom all the way along the shore so no worries about losing control of boyancy and destroying coral.
The totality of the available reefs is nothing special except Elphinstone but a nice mix of typical Red Sea diving and a decent amount&mixture of flora&fauna, always some big turtles at the housereef was nice though.
