Possible dangerous situations due to broken inflator button

If a BCD inflator does not work properly, it can lead to dangerous situations, in which the diver gets either too little buoyancy or jamming the inflator button causes a constant air supply to the jacket, which also causes a critical situation: uncontrollable positive buoyancy.

Issues with a broken inflator button have been more frequent in the US for Zeagle BCDs, so there has been a recall for Zeagle Jackets with the so called Sport Inflator. Affected are the models Sport Base, Sport Resort, Sport Base Plus, Sport Resort Plus and Sport Focus.

According to Zeagle USA, under some circumstances, the inflator button can break or fracture leading to a rapid loss of air – posing a drowning hazard or auto-inflation of the BCD with uncontrollable positive buoyancy. It is requested not to dive with the affected jackets delivered between August 1, 2015 and August 31, 2018 and to contact Zeagle or the dealer for the replacement of the inflator.

Whether the affected jackets at all, and if "yes" which models - were sold exactly in Germany or imported via the US, was not yet known. So if you own a Zeagle jacket of the mentioned series, you should either contact your retail shop or check your serial no if it belongs to the affected series. The following serial numbers are affected:

620150000 – 620150800 2015081625 – 2015080921
2016035830 – 2016034676 1030062 – 1030001
2015114475 – 2015112942 1012775 – 1012051
2015092740 – 2015091746 1011765 – 1010001

The serial number is located on the inside the BCD pocket.
