To protect the Lahille's bottlenose dolphin

Let's all help Yaqu Pacha's project to protect the Lahille's bottlenose dolphin! With only 600 specimens left, the Lahille's bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops gephyreus) is threatened with extinction.

NGO KAOSA, YAQU PACHA, Nuremberg Zoo and other partners are launching the Backbone Guardians campaign to raise awareness and funds for urgent conservation measures outlined in a new 5-year action plan.

Habitat destruction, overfishing, increasing health impacts from contaminants and bycatch are threatening the survival of Lahille's dolphin, the most endangered dolphin species in the South West Atlantic.

For more than 20 years, one of YAQU PACHA's main focuses has been the protection of the endangered Lahille's porpoise (Tursiops gephyreus). YAQU PACHA works throughout the species' range, from southern Brazil to Uruguay and Argentina.

All YAQU PACHA staff work on a voluntary basis and all donations go directly into the conservation projects.
