Ghost nets are a threat to waters all over the world. The mission is to remove this trash from the ocean. As mixed gas divers the Ghost Diving team can remove nets and other ghost gear down to great depths. Ghost Diving Germany is the German branch of the international Ghost Diving organization.

Ghost Diving works in national waters as well as on international projects together with other organizations to celan oceans, lakes rivers of ghost nets and other debris that threaten marine habitats.

Who is Ghost Diving?

Ghost Diving is a charity organization of volunteer technical divers who, since 2007, have specialized in finding and recovering lost nets (known as "ghost nets") and other marine debris. Ghost Diving is the largest international organization of divers working on the issue of ghost fishing - with many large, international projects. "Our main goal is to raise awareness of the problem of abandoned, lost or otherwise removed fishing gear (ALDFG). We achieve this by removing these nets and publicizing our projects," Derk Remmers explains.

After more than a decade, the problem has become more internationally known, also due to the activities of the founders, which have often been carried out in international cooperation and with other organizations such as Healthy Seas Foundation, WWF, Greenpeace and Global Underwater Explorers.
