Diving the currently deepest indoor pool in the world
We are on the edge of the tube and we look down in the deep. At some distance we can see the number 45. One look at the depth gauge is enough. We are already 20m deep, and only here the descent to the new record depth begins. We are in the deepest pool in the world: DeepSpot Warsaw in Poland. But besides depth, the indoor divecenter has a lot more to offer. Now it is officially opened and waiting for divers from everywhere.
Last week this deepest indoor pool in the world opened. A little more than 45 meters deep and well over 8000 cubic meters of water are the hard facts. In the Polish town of Mszczonów, near Warsaw, divers, diving enthusiasts, apnoea divers and professionals from the military or civil sector can dive, train or just enjoy diving in the deepest pool in the world.
Already in October we followed the invitation of DeepSpot, did some dives in the pool and inspected the complete facility before the opening at the end of November. The conclusion in advance: WOW! Everything of the best... Either with the technology, or with the equipment, and certainly the masses of water ;-) More than 27 times as much water as in an average swimming pool is available for diving here.
Mszczonów is a small village 50km southwest of Poland's capital Warsaw. DeepSpot is right next to an exit of the E67 highway. The location was cleverly chosen - not only because of the good connections. Nearby there is a thermal layer, with which the water in the DeepSpot can be kept at over 30 degrees through heat exchange.
Next to the tube, which starts at 20m and goes down to exactly 45,3m, you will find a shipwreck in the pool at 20m and between 10 and 20m a cave system with three different levels, which are connected by openings in the respective ceilings. A few artificial stalactites and images of ‘gods’ cheer up the atmosphere in the cave.
For non-divers there is a passageway in the middle of the pool, made of plexiglass, where you can walk through the pool with dry feet and watch the spectacle in the water. And - four hotel rooms with a direct wall-filling view into the pool.
The DeepSpot with its water depth of over 45 meters replaces the "Y-40" in Italy as the deepest pool in the world. You can now dive just 3 meters deeper here. The necessary infrastructure for diving is of course available, sufficient equipment and fillings for the bottles can be rented or bought directly on site. The feel-good factor in the whole complex is very high, the interior is stylish.
And the disadvantage? Currently the diving price is about 50€ per hour and person. That is of course a bit on the pricy side, but the experience of diving in the DeepSpot is already quite big and we were very enthusiastic about an 'indoor dive'. In any case a new idea for a short vacation: city tour with diving; visit to Warsaw and the DeepSpot.
