I went to Okinawa for the Golden Week in Japan and found Piranha Divers by Google Search.
The most important thing for me was reading that Jan takes care of his gear and that the groups are not too big (Max 4 people).
The fact that Jan speaks German was a nice to have for me, as I´m from Germany too, but not the most important point.
So I contacted Jan, told him I´d come to Okinwawa in a few days and if there´s the chance to join an Open Water Course. (That was the initial plan...)
He organized a place in the Pension Weekend which is 300m from his place and so it was settled.
Nice and easy, no stress, no complications.. (ok, I missed my flight, but that´s another story)...
Back to diving with Jan / Piranha Divers.
Jan explained everything and answered all questions asked so that everyone feels safe and capable to react under water.
The diving spots are amazing. Unfortunatly we couldn´t go to Mansa, but Sunabe and Maede are great for the first dives! You have 3 directions you can go, so it´s like 3 different dives per spot!
The most important thing to Jan is that you feel comfortable under water, with your gear and that you know what you´re doing. It´s all about enjoying the ocean and this totally new and different world.
That´s why the 3 of us (we met there for the first time) did the Advanced Open Water Diver too within this week.
It just felt right and we got all adicted to diving.. thanks JAN!
So this was my first time in Okinawa but definately not the last time! Looking forward to meet Jan and the others from my course in Okinawa again.
Yes, we became dive buddies and will continue to dive and hopefully meet up at least once a year to dive together.
All in all, to bring it down to a word: A M A Z I N G!
