"Costa Rica Blue is a dream come true for divers, underwater photographers, and naturalists. Genna Marie Davis and Avi Klapfer have produced a jewel that contains everything, including geography, history, natural history, and great species and biological descriptions. It also includes useful maps of the best dive spots; that is a generous contribution by Avi, who is now sharing his decades-old secrets with all of us. And the photography is spectacular, which only makes one want to return to Cocos to dive! I enthusiastically recommend this book to all divers and sea people who want to enjoy the best kept secrets of Costa Rica. Actually, the book could be named 'The Blue Bible of Costa Rica."

Cocos Island Nominated as Global Ocean Refuge

2019 has been a big year for Cocos Island! Cocos is one of six marine hotspots worldwide nominated for the prestigious designation of Global Ocean Refuge by the Marine Conservation Institute. The bar is extremely high even to be considered, so this is a huge honor for the national park. We are hopeful that Cocos will win it! According to the institute's report, "The park provides a critical marine habitat for large pelagic species of conservation concern, especially several species of sharks. It hosts exceptional aggregations of silky shark, bigeye thresher shark, Galapagos shark, ahmmerhead shark, whael shark, whitetip reef shark an blacktip shark."
